The Big One

A cacophony of barking dogs,
Several fearful mewling cats,
A ‘what-was-that’ moment of silence,
Just as primal fear rises in acceleration.

A whole ocean,
Elevated,
Overtaking land.

The sudden destruction of forests and bogs,
Of several if not all habitats,
Feeling the destabilization of our balance,
Hoping that the unfolding cataclysm is a hallucination.

Everything in motion,
Agitated,
Generating a wasteland.
